The event runs for the entire free fishing week. There is no weigh station because the fish length is photographed and sent to our website to be entered in the derby. We are running the derby in this fashion so the fish can be either kept or released at the discretion of the angler. We have an official tape measure that all the fish must be measured on and examples of how to take the pictures shown on our website at www.sjiha.ca and also where to send the pictures. We post the pictures on our web site for all to see. The derby is carried out in the Canadian waters that surround St. Joseph Island and ranges along the North shore from Bar river to Thessalon. The event has cash prizes for 6 fish categories which include perch, pike, walleye, bass, Salmon/trout and ciscoe (herring). The entry fee is $50.00 for adults and $20.00 for children 15 and under with separate prizes for adults and children. The event wraps up with a dinner and presentations at our clubhouse on July 6th.
