Island Fishing Derby
Due to Covid-19 the St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers (www.sjiha.ca) previously cancelled their annual derby, however, knowing families will probably be fishing we will have an “online derby only” with no registration and no follow up dinner and presentations. Once we can gather, we will try to have some presentations for the children involved.
Free Fishing Week is July 4th to the 12th, 2020 and our derby will run from 6am on the 4th to 12pm on the 12th similar to our normal derby. Registration will be, you sending your picture to our site with your name and phone number and the length of the fish taken from the front of the fish to the fork in the tail as we have done in previous tournaments. You can take a picture, holding the fish or on our measuring tape from last year, as we have done in the past. Family pictures would also be a nice addition. Once the picture is taken it can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, whether you are a child under 15 or an adult, and the length of the fish and we will post it on our site for all to see. We will try to set up a gallery of the largest fish caught for the day so “bragging rights” will be yours.
Similar to previous derby’s, we will have 6 fish species: pike, perch, bass, walleye, trout/salmon and herring (ciscoe); but send pictures of anything you catch and we will add them to the derby gallery. The derby will take place in Canadian waters in contact with St. Joseph Island, as in our previous fishing derby’s.
Have fun and stay safe and we hope you will participate in the St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers “bragging rights” derby.
Good Luck Fishing
