Loyalist Township is excited to be hosting our second annual Family Fishing Day. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Stella Bay Park, next to the Neilson Store Museum on Amherst Island. This date aligns with the one of the Province of Ontario’s free family fishing weekends.

In addition to the fishing activities, we will be providing facepainting, live music, crafts and other on shore activities. A community fundraiser cash BBQ will also be on site. Pre-registration will be required for this event so that we can safely manage families fishing off the dock, provide adequate ferry access and ensure there are enough giveaways for those in attendance. This event will be free for the public to attend thanks to community partnership donations.

Along with the activities, visitors will be able to enjoy an engagement area where families will be able to speak with industry professionals, learn about water safety, invasive species, natural habitats, impact of pollution, local species, and how to continue to grow their knowledge and love of fishing beyond the event.
