Valens Lake Annual John Burns Fishing Derby is a catch and release derby for Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike in the adult division and Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Panfish species for the youth division. The derby is held at Valens lake Conservation Area, just east of Cambridge, Ontario. The derby is hosted by the Hamilton Conservation Authority on July 11th and runs from sunrise to noon. There are lots of great door prizes and raffles as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Adult and Youth categories. There will be refreshments and food located at the beach store as well as some fishing supplies and bait (worms) just a short walk from the weigh in station.
Regular Conservation Area entrance fees apply – $5 Youth and $10 Adults for Derby Registration
For this derby you will be required to provide your own fishing equipment, boats are available for rent including canoes, row boats, and kayaks.
Please note that Gas motors are NOT permitted on the lake
