The fifth annual Casper and Jamie Fish Derby at Cedar Point in Hornepayne is a family-friendly event. Cedar point is so close to town that participants can walk to the lake if they like! Participants need not have fishing equipment or an auger to participate. Simple fishing lines and minnows will be provided for free upon entry and holes will be drilled by volunteers for those who don’t have their own ice auger. Shore lunch will be available for purchase from the Hornepayne Recreation Committee for those who want a bite to eat. All fish registered a the weigh-in station will be recorded and the heaviest 3 fish registered in both Senior and Junior categories will receive a prize. Although there are some pickerel and some big pike in the lake, normally the fish caught are all small pike which gives everyone a chance to win regardless of their fishing experience. There are exceptions though! Dennis Mackie caught an 11 pound pike a few years back so keep an eye on those lines!
